Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy is clinical work — it requires a diagnosis, focuses on processing emotional and psychological material, and is covered by insurance for the panels I'm in network with (or $175/session self-pay).
Coaching is skills and systems work — no diagnosis required, focused on building practical strategies for executive function, time management, follow-through, and the day-to-day stuff. Coaching is self-pay only ($150/session, or $525 for a 4-session monthly package).
Some clients do both at different times. We can talk through which fits during your free consultation.
What is your rate for coaching?
Coaching is $150 per single session, or $525 for a 4-session monthly package (saves $75/month). Most clients work in monthly packages because consistency is what makes coaching work. Coaching is self-pay only — it's not covered by insurance.
How do I book a session?
You can book a session or consultation with me by pressing the link below, or you can email me directly at sara@getyourshifttogethertherapy.com
What can I expect during our first therapy session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping for, and anything you want me to know. There's no pressure to share everything all at once — we’ll move at your pace.
I'll also go over how therapy works, answer any questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the process. This time is yours, and my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and not judged — just human.
What services do you offer?
I offer two services: individual therapy for adults (specializing in ADHD, AuDHD, and substance use) and executive function coaching for adults. I work with clients across Illinois both virtually and in person in the Lincolnwood/Chicago area.
What is your rate for therapy sessions?
My self-pay rate for therapy is $175 per session. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available for clients experiencing financial hardship — feel free to mention it during your consultation.
Do you take insurance?
For therapy: yes! — I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and Optum/UBH. If you have a different insurance plan, I can provide a superbill after each session that you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Every plan is different, so it's worth calling your insurance to ask about your out-of-network benefits before we start. Coaching is self-pay
How do I know if you are a right fit for me?
That’s an important question — and one I really encourage you to ask. The therapeutic relationship matters, and you deserve to feel safe and seen. I offer a free 15-minute consultation call so you can get a sense of how I work and whether it feels like a good fit. No pressure, no commitment — just a chance to connect and see what feels right for you.
How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?
Sessions typically last 53 minutes. The frequency of sessions is up to you, and typically occur on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.
